Over two years of planning went into the 'eco-thinking' initiative; a program that will continue to gain momentum with future introductions as ANN SACKS builds upon the category.

Currently there are 14 tile and stone collections with a wide range of price points to cater to commercial and residential applications and budgets. All boast LEED credit contributions and other notable environmental attributes and are easily identifiable by its Eco-Thinking product mark, a logo designed by ANN SACKS to clearly demarcate products that meet qualifications.

“As a manufacturer and supplier of some of the finest tile and stone offered commercially today, we have the opportunity to help our customers enhance their own environments with natural materials that offer beauty and permanency without relying on toxic chemicals and adhesives,” explained Dian Smith, president, ANN SACKS Tile, Stone and Plumbing, Inc. “It is our daily business, our company’s commitment, to thoughtfully and creatively come up with ways to conserve and protect our environment.”

ANN SACKS keeps a steady eye on the future, understanding the importance of conservation and continues to move the mark by seeking out ways to enhance and support these endeavors at every level of its business. Examples are already part and parcel of the ANN SACKS ideology toward conservation. All excess raw clay is recycled. The company uses only lead-free glazes. Resulting waste water from production is filtered prior to leaving the Portland facility. All products are shipped in recycled and recyclable packaging.

“We manufacture a range of tiles in our Portland, Ore. factory, including our signature ANN SACKS Collection, recycled glass collections and energy-efficient concrete line,” concluded Smith.

“Our factory currently utilizes an energy-efficient, fast-firing kiln design and by first quarter 2011, we will be adding an even more efficient periodic gas kiln that recycles waste heat. From powering our kilns in our factory to keeping the lights on in our showrooms, we understand the impact on our earth’s diminishing resources. At ANN SACKS sustainability is a way of life. We are committed to making a difference. Eco-Thinking simply helps us towards that goal.”
